Una comes from a musical background and began writing original music and playing guitar at the age of 13. She is an accomplished acoustic and electric guitarist and also plays some piano.
Una performed her own compositions for her Junior and Leaving Cert music exams achieving Grade A in both. After leaving school she started out fronting a local Rock band in Ireland later deciding to buy her own PA and equipment to gig at every opportunity possible.
She continued to gig and record for years with various other talented musicians performing Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues and Folk.
Una wrote and recorded her own album and won Ireland's Glinsk Song Contest in 2004 and again in 2006. Her self-produced EP "Sorry" was released in 2006.
Una represented Ireland at Eurovision 2006 as a backing singer for Brian Kennedy and Every Song Is A Cry For Love.
In 2007, Healy joined the The Saturdays girl group as her latest project. The group has so far reached the top ten with all four of their singles (If This Is Love, Up, Issues and Just Can't Get Enough), their debut album Chasing Lights also going top 10. Healy and her fellow bandmates accompanied Girls Aloud on their Tangled Up Tour and supported the Jonas Brothers at their Hammersmith Apollo gig on September 11.
Healy and the rest of the band made a guest appearance in Hollyoaks Later on the 18th of September 2008, playing themselves. They also starred in a short BBC drama Myths, in an episode called The Syrens' Call. The Saturdays played characters called The Syrens with Una playing lead role Peisone. [1]
Healy appeared on The Podge and Rodge Show on the 16 December 2008.
